Youth Program
After School Tutoring
Created and implemented with a grant from the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole, this after-school tutoring program serves middle school students throughout Teton County. Meetings take place at Jackson Hole Middle School, Teton County Library, or Teton Literacy Program. Tutoring pairs meet for one hour each week after school, Monday through Thursday, during the academic school year. Focus is on reading and writing skills supporting math, science, social studies, and language arts.
Peer Tutoring
In partnership with Jackson Hole High School, the Peer Tutoring Program currently serves students at Colter Elementary and Jackson Hole Middle School. High school tutors participate in weekly training at Teton Literacy Program while assisting teachers in their classrooms for one class period each day. This program allows high school students the opportunity to take a closer look at education theory while exploring education as a career option.
College Preparation Courses
In partnership with Jackson Hole High School, our specialized prep course encourages the development of test-taking skills for college entrance exams. Students practice realistic test-taking scenarios, are coached on the formalities of standardized testing, and are provided materials for independent study.
Summer Programs
Art of Exploration
Middle School Students will have the chance to explore the mountains of Jackson Hole while experimenting with a variety of artistic media. Through creative reading and writing activities, they’ll practice different ways of telling the stories behind their art. At the week’s end, they’ll have a fieldbook filled with original works of art and writing. This camp runs from August 3rd-7th from 10am to 4pm. For students entering the 7th through 9th grades.
Digital Journalism
This camp combines writing, digital photography, and web publishing to give students an introduction to 21st century journalism. Students will spend time learning about digital photography, researching topics, conducting interviews, and expressing their findings in writing. For the final project, each student will interview, photograph, and publish a web story on at least one person or business in the town of Jackson. This camp runs from July 27-31st from 10am to 4pm. For students entering 7th-9th grades.
