Adult Program Work-Based Classes
The Work-Based Program aims to support local businesses and employees in breaking down communication barriers. Many businesses employ both English and Spanish speakers who often times cannot communicate well with each other. TLP offers customized English and Spanish classes to meet the specific needs of different workplaces. Classes are taught at the work-site or at TLP and are adapted for the students’ levels and work-specific vocabulary. In the past, TLP has offered work-based classes for customer service, housekeepers, restaurant workers, construction workers, medical workers and business supervisors.
Thanks to the generous support of a grant from Oprah’s Angel Network, Teton Literacy Program is able to offer tuition free work-based English classes in the fiscal year 2009/2010. No tuition will be charged for these classes; instead employers are asked to make an in-kind donation to TLP. Classes will be offered throughout the year. Please contact Mareike Fitz, Adult Program Director, to talk about designing a class for your employees.
